Oak City Lacrosse Spring 2025 Season - League Games and Team Practices
Oak City's Spring Season begins in mid-February and ends on May 3rd.

Spring 2025
Who:
For Returning and Beginner Lacrosse players - Beginners are welcomed and encouraged to join our recreation level lacrosse program. Experienced players will get the skill development necessary to become a better player. Most of our players go on to play lacrosse at the middle school and high school level.  We are proud that half of the 2024 Cap Six all conference players are Oak City Lacrosse Alumni along with a significant number of private school (Ravenscroft/NRCA/St. David's) alumni.

When: Our Spring season trainings will begin with Saturday and Sunday trainings in mid-February and end on on May 3rd.

Player Cohorts:  Grade 1-2  - Grade 3-4 - Grade 5-6  - MS (7th-8th Grade)

For Middle School Age Players (7th-8th Grade):

We will train 7th-8th graders together in the Spring. We do not place 6th Graders on our MS team except in extraordinary circumstances (usually advanced skills AND a significant SIZE advantage over other 6th graders.  We've encourage 6th graders to train and play with 5th-6th grade peers, although we recognize that there can be situations where a 6th grade player should be playing with his 7th-8th grade middle school teammates. Those decisions will be made between families, the Oak City Lacrosse Director and the coaching staff.

Oak City's Spring Season is a league (game against other clubs) season. We are offering Saturday/Sunday morning trainings until March 10th and then weeknight evening trainings for all players after Daylight Savings time begins.

Oak City's Spring season is a good time to learn how to play lacrosse or get better at the technical and tactical aspects of the game in a competitive, recreation-level program. We put a large emphasis on developing the stick (technical) skills necessary to improve and become a better player as well as the tactical elements of defense, offense and transition play.

New players and experienced players will be grouped into grade cohorts, and then sub-grouped into skill based groups. (beginners will be grouped with beginners, advanced players with advanced players) during much of our trainings, and we will create teams that are as close to evenly matched as possible to promote competitive parity.
